Annual Hiking Day

August 10 was FOMA’s annual hiking day with 3 hikes on Mt. Adams sponsored and lead by our board members and volunteers. The weather was perfect with sunny skies. The hikes were primarily on Yakama Nation land. Including hike leaders, 32 people participated with hikes to Bird Creek Meadows, Hell Roaring Viewpoint, Aiken Lava Bed, Bluff and Bird Lakes and many waterfalls. While wildflower bloom was a bit early this year, there were many species still in bloom including Indian paintbrush, Monkeyflower, Mountain gentian, Subalpine mariposa lily and Spreading phlox.
